Dr. David R. Decker delivered his inaugural address at Franklin University in Columbus on May 16.Dr. David R. Decker shared his vision for Franklin University at a May 16 inaugural celebration where Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Chairman of the Franklin University Board of Trustees Greg Lashutka, and a number of other honored guests participated in Dr. Decker's installation as the fourth president of Franklin University in Columbus. The private university, focused on providing high-quality education to working adult students, is a valued partner of the University System of Ohio. Dr. Decker's advice and counsel were invaluable to the Chancellor as he put together the adult education component in Ohio's 10-year Strategic Plan for Higher Education delivered to the governor and Ohio General Assembly March 31.
"Dr. Decker's inaugural address was visionary and inspiring, sharing wisdom from our nation's founders and his own innovative insights addressing the challenges facing higher education today," said Chancellor Fingerhut. "A lot of what we propose to do here in Ohio is right out of the Franklin University playbook. As Franklin has shown throughout its distinguished history, non-traditional students are highly motivated, but they need a support system tailored to their busy lives if they are to succeed. We seek to follow Franklin's example across the state."
