University System of Ohio Partners with i-graduate to become the First System in the U.S. to Adopt the International Student Barometer
The Partnership advances a key strategy of the Chancellor’s 10-year Strategic Plan for Higher Education by measuring the satisfaction of international students
For Immediate Release | September 24, 2008
The partnership between the University System of Ohio and i-graduate advances a key strategy of the Chancellor’s 10-year Strategic Plan for Higher Education by measuring the satisfaction of international students. The International Student Barometer, a leading international student satisfaction survey, will specifically be used to evaluate the experience of international students at Ohio’s public colleges and universities. The tool will track the perceptions, expectations and experiences of international students and will assist the University System of Ohio as they work to improve that experience.
“The University System of Ohio is committed to not only graduating more students, but attracting more talent from around the globe,” said Chancellor Fingerhut. “This partnership will help Ohio raise its international profile and make Ohio a destination for the world’s scholars.”
The Chancellor was joined by Louise Wringe, Director of Global Business Development for i-graduate, as well as Mitch Leventhal, Vice Provost of UC International, University of Cincinnati and Stephen P. Foster, University Librarian and Associate Vice President for International Affairs, Wright State University, who were early adopters of the International Student Barometer.
As a leading education research organization, i-graduate runs the largest annual study of the international student experience in the world. Since 2005, i-graduate has collected data from over 350,000 international students from 190 countries. Ohio’s participation in the International Student Barometer will be part of a global initiative spanning five continents. The International Student Barometer has been adopted by over 250 institutions from 11 countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, continental Europe and the United States.
