University System of Ohio Efficiencies Panel Meets Today

COLUMBUS – The Advisory Committee on Efficiency in the University System of Ohio holds its first meeting Thursday, February 12, 2009, from 1-4:30 p.m. at Board of Regents headquarters in Columbus to examine Ohio public college and university business practices, identify improvements, and ensure they are spread throughout the system. The committee, launched by the Chancellor as part of Ohio's 10-year Strategic Plan for Higher Education, is made up of University System of Ohio trustees, presidents, faculty, students, and staff, as well as representatives of the business community.
The goal of today's meeting, which will be broadcast live via Web streaming at http://sg60.oar.net/OBR, is to orient committee members to their task and examine efficiency elements contained in Ohio's Strategic Plan. Specific agenda items include discussion on purchasing goods and services; information technology purchases and operations; college and university administrative functions; academic programs; and energy efficiency. The group also will be briefed on successful activities taking place on campuses across the state meeting and exceeding current efficiency targets.
