Community Conversations
The public was invited to attend a series of Community Conversation forums hosted by Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut during April, May and June, to discuss his 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education delivered to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31.
June 18 at Kent State University Stark - Breaking Barriers Between K-12 and Higher Education

Kent State University Stark Dean Dr. Betsy Boze hosted Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut for the second round of the Community Conversation held in northwest Ohio that began at Stark State College of Technology on May 30. Due to the impressive turnout from the community in the first round, Chancellor Fingerhut returned to give community members another opportunity to participate in a direct conversation on Ohio’s 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education, with a specific focus on breaking barriers between K-12 and higher education.

June 17 at The University of Toledo - Centers of Excellence and the Role of Research

The sixth and final Community Conversation held around the state to discuss the state’s 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education that was delivered by Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31 was hosted by The University of Toledo President Dr. Lloyd Jacobs. Chancellor Fingerhut provided an overview of the plan and moderated a panel discussion made up of local college, business, civic and student leaders that focused on higher education centers of excellence and the role of research.

May 30 at Stark State College of Technology - Breaking Barriers Between K-12 and Higher Education

Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut spoke to a capacity crowd consisting of local community members, higher education, business, civic and student leaders about the importance of breaking the barriers between K-12 and higher education in Ohio. The Community Conversation, hosted by Dr. John O'Donnell, President of Stark State College of Technology, was the fifth of six regional forums held to discuss Ohio’s 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education presented by Chancellor Fingerhut to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31. In addition to providing an overview of the plan, Chancellor Fingerhut moderated a panel discussion with local community leaders and fielded questions from the audience.

May 22 at University of Cincinnati - Higher Education and Economic Development

University of Cincinnati President Dr. Nancy Zimpher hosted Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut and college, business, civic and student leaders for the fourth in a series of six regional Community Conversations held throughout Ohio to discuss the state’s 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education delivered by the Chancellor to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31. The Chancellor provided an overview of the plan, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q & A that focused on higher education and economic development.

May 7 at Antioch University McGregor - Ohio's Adult Learners and Workforce

Focusing on the strategic plan and Ohio’s adult workforce, Antioch University McGregor President Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley greeted Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut for the third in a series of six Community Conversations around the state. Chancellor Fingerhut, along with local higher education, business and student leaders, discussed the 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education that was presented to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly on March 31.

April 29 at Shawnee State University - Affordability and Economic Advancement

In the second stop of a series of six Community Conversations around the state, Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut was hosted by Shawnee State University's President Dr. Rita Rice Morris to discuss the state's 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education delivered by the Chancellor to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31. Chancellor Fingerhut provided an overview of the plan, as well as moderated a panel discussion composed of local college, business, civic and student leaders that focused on college affordability and increasing enrollment to make the region more competitive in attracting employers and new jobs to Appalachia.

April 16 at Columbus State Community College - College Affordability

Columbus State Community College President Dr. Valeriana Moeller welcomed Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut and college, business, civic and student leaders to discuss the state’s 10-Year Strategic Plan for Higher Education delivered by the Chancellor to Governor Strickland and the Ohio General Assembly March 31. The first in a series of six regional forums to be held around the state, the April 16 session provided an overview of the plan and a moderated discussion with the audience and panelists on college affordability.
